01 Getting Help

Write To A Human

help@liberated.studio — questions, problems, ideas. Replies usually come within two working days.

If something went wrong, the three things that help most are: which iPhone and iOS version you are on, what you did just before it happened, and a screenshot if there is anything to see.

02 Starting Out

Your First Palace

A memory palace is a walk you already know, used as a place to keep things you want to remember. Two ways to begin:

Install a ready-made one. Open the Library tab, pick a palace and tap Get. It arrives complete, with a route and a Person–Action–Object image at every stop.

Build your own. Open Palaces, tap New Palace, then place stations along a route you know: move the map so the crosshair sits on the spot and tap the plus. Each station needs a name and one image of a Person doing an Action to an Object.

03 Station Views

Picking What A Station Looks Like

Every station shows one picture. Tap the big picture to open Apple's Look Around at that spot, where you can walk and turn to whatever view you want, then tap Use to keep it. The map that follows is where you set the pin.

Apple's Look Around does not cover everywhere. Where there is none, the station shows a map with its pin instead, which you can also choose deliberately: open the live view, tap Map, frame it and tap Use. A map station cannot carry a memory photo.

Edit Location, on the station's edit screen, moves the pin itself.

04 Memory Photos

One Photo To A Station

On a Look Around station you can add a photo of your own, from your library or the camera. Drag it to place it on the picture and use the slider to size it. It saves as you go; there is no save button.

05 Walking And Reviewing

Two Different Jobs

Walk Palace steps through the route in order with the answer hidden until you ask for it. Tell it how each station went — Forgot, Hard, Remembered, Vivid — and weak stations are flagged for you. Walking never changes your review schedule.

Review is the formal side: stations come back on a spaced repetition schedule, and the four grades set when each one returns. New stations are due immediately.

06 Sharing

Sending A Palace To Someone

Share a palace from its screen, or by swiping right on it in the Palaces list. You choose what the file carries: Route Only, which is the walk and its stops, or Full Palace, which adds the images and notes. Your review history is never shared.

The file ends in .mempal. Opening one from Messages, AirDrop or Files opens it in the app, which asks whether to add it as a copy or replace the one you already have.

07 Your Data

Backups And Deleting

Everything lives on your iPhone. In Settings: Back Up Everything writes one file containing your palaces and images, which you keep wherever you like; Restore Backup puts it all back, replacing what is on the device; Delete All Local Data removes everything, images included, and cannot be undone.

There is no account and no cloud copy, so a backup you make is the only copy besides the one on your phone. See the privacy policy.

08 Requirements

What You Need

An iPhone running iOS 17 or later. Maps, Look Around and the Library need an internet connection; everything you have already built works offline.

Location permission is optional and only centres the map on you. The camera is used only if you take a photo for a station.
